Ginseng belongs to the genus Panax of the family Araliaceae.Its generally found in North America , in Korea and in northeastern China. The two major species are American ginseng one that is grown in the Midwest of America and the Asian ginseng. Ginseng root is being used in Chinese medicine for over two thousand  years. Ginseng comes in two kinds, red and white. The color of the ginseng depends on how it is processed. White ginseng is unprocessed and dries naturally. Red ginseng is processed with steam and is believed to be more effective.
